Lucky 7 for South Korea?

Saturday 30th January 2010

South Korea's squad - officially recognised as Korea Republic by FIFA - are heading to their seventh consecutive World Cup finals in 2010, the footballing organisation reports. Although they have only once made it beyond the group stage, the nation has now been represented at every World Cup finals since 1986. But the past two years, under the management of Huh Jung-Moo, have included an unbeaten run that puts the team in powerful form on the road to South Africa. At odds around 7/2, South Korea are the outsiders in their group when it comes to progressing beyond the groups. However, with Nigeria and Greece also in their group - along with favourites to win the group Argentina - there could still be the opportunity to perform strongly. Argentina's odds to win the group currently stand around 8/15, with a price of 11/2 on the team not to qualify. For South Korea, meanwhile, the odds for non-qualification stand at 2/9, with the nation priced at 12/1 to win Group B outright.
