PSV Eindhoven's Andre Ooijer has revealed the desire of his national team, the Netherlands, to play "beautiful football" at this year's World Cup finals in South Africa. Ahead of the summer 2010 tournament, Ooijer spoke to FIFA about his team's plans to stick to what they know best in their bid for world-conquering victory. "We play as a unit, very compact - and we'll have to stick with that philosophy in South Africa," he said. Ooijer also spoke of the importance every player holds for their team, rather than just the "enormous talent" that leads the Dutch attack on goal. While admitting that the team is particularly strong in attack, Ooijer insisted that every player's attitude is equally strong - and that this is what makes the Netherlands committed to not conceding in defence. The Netherlands' commitment to a strong defence and powerful attack could be helping the national side to keep pace with the front-runners in the bid for World Cup success in 2010. At odds of around 6/1 to reach the final, the squad is more in favour with the British betting public than rivals Argentina and Portugal.
